KACHOUMUTAN III
The present theme is SENKAI, the world of mountain hermits. Various patterns of wonderful figures which have been handed down generation to generation in Kinzangama Kiln are arranged and applied in new work lidded cups. The mismatch of big lid knobs and a lovely form of handles give an unbalanced and mysterious atmosphere. The main characters in the patters are mountain hermits. In the imaginative world, they sometimes fly lightly, and sometimes move gropingly. What will these humorous legendary people talk to us, reviving to the present world? This time, the first step was to look for old traditional motifs, not only the traditional techniques of Kinzangama Kiln, from the numerous archives. Unusual but cherish cups with marvelous motifs drawn in pop colors and certain technique let everybody escape from a busy everyday life, bring you the pleasure to understand motifs deeply. That will be a good change of mood for you.

This motif is usually known as ‘Seven Wise Men in Bamboo Thicket’. Virtuous men of full knowledge are talking noble and refined things in the motif. Here, however, only six wise men are depicted. They are all turning their back and seem somehow lonely. Imagine yourself ----- what are they discussing about?
